What Type of Second-Hand Books is Armstrong's Unisa Books likely to buy?

  • Armstrong's will only buy books that are prescribed at Unisa for the current academic year.
  • If two or more editions of the same book are prescribed by Unisa, Armstrong's will only buy the most recent edition.
  • We do buy books containing CD's, provided that the CD's are not scratched or cracked.
  • Books containing an internet access code will only be bought by us if the code is still sealed and unused.
  • Important Note: If there is no demand for a book, we may not be able to buy your book even if it is prescribed.

How Much Can I Expect to be Paid for my Second-Hand Unisa Books?

We pay between 25% and 50% of the new selling price, depending on the condition of the book.

What Sort of Condition Should my Unisa Books be in to Have the Best Chance of Armstrong's buying them?

Books should be in a generally good and clean condition. This means:

  • no highlighting
  • no torn pages
  • no missing pages
  • no pen or pencil markings.

Where can I sell my Unisa books to Armstrong's?

Books are bought at our branches only, i.e. books cannot be posted, or sent to us by courier. You are welcome to send a driver (not a courier), friend, or relative to our branches with your books.

When does Armstrong's buy second-hand UNISA books?

Books are normally only purchased from January to early March (books prescribed for 1st semester and year courses), and from July to early August (only books prescribed for 2nd semester courses).
